Google is rolling out its latest innovation: custom AI chatbots called Gems. Set to launch for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users in over 150 countries, Gems allow subscribers to craft chatbots with unique personalities and skills. Whether you need a gardening expert, workout buddy, or writing assistant, you can tailor your Gem with specific instructions and names.
Gems first debuted at Google I/O in May, showcasing their versatility with examples like a chatbot for low-water gardening. For those not inclined to build their own, Google offers pre-made options, including a career guide and a coding partner.
This move places Google in direct competition with OpenAI, which has been advancing in custom chatbot creation and offering GPTs through its store. Gems will be available on both mobile and desktop, making it easier than ever to integrate AI into daily tasks.
